The Seven Ways To Win Bingo
Did you know there are actually seven ways to win a regular bingo game? Many players naturally assume there are only three ways to win, by lining up five marked squares in a line running straight across, up and down or diagonally. But there are really seven ways to win bingo, each involving 5 marked squares in a specific bingo pattern.
7 Ways to Win Bingo: Horizontal
One of the most basic and versatile bingo patterns in a regular bingo game is the horizontal line. Anyone who has ever played bingo is familiar with this pattern, requiring five squares to be marked off in a straight line across any row across the bingo card – the first, second, third, fourth or fifth row. Note that the third, or middle horizontal row is the most common since it has the “Free Space” square, instantly marked when a new bingo game begins.

7 Ways to Win Bingo: Vertical
The vertical line bingo pattern is much the same as the horizontal line except that it runs in a straight column up and down – vertically – not left to right. You can fill any straight line down, in the B, I, N, G, or O column. Again, the middle column is the most commonly won because it contains the “Free Space” square, instantly marked when a new bingo game begins.

7 Ways to Win Bingo: Diagonal
The diagonal bingo pattern is not quite as versatile as the horizontal or vertical lines because it can only be achieved in two forms, running diagonally from the top-left corner to the bottom-right corner, or from the bottom-left corner to the top-right corner. The “Free Space” square is required to win with this bingo pattern, instantly marked when a new bingo game begins, so you’ll only need to mark off 4 squares to win.

7 Ways to Win Bingo: Postage Stamp
The Postage Stamp is a bingo pattern that can be completed in one of four ways. It is a block of four squares (plus the “Free Space” square), in any corner.

7 Ways to Win Bingo: 4 Outside Corners
The name pretty much says it here. To complete this bingo pattern, you need to mark off the four outside corners on a bingo card. You end up with a 5-square combination with the “Free Space” in the middle.
