Bingo Patterns

One of the most exciting things about 75-Ball, North American Bingo, is the plethora of ways to play it. The 5×5 grid of bingo squares can be marked off in so many bingo patterns; well over 300 in fact.

Bingo patterns make playing online bingo a lot more interesting than the old single-line game most of us played as children, where marking off 5 numbers straight across, up and down or diagonally won the game.

Most bingo patterns involve pictures of an item, an alphabetical letter or number. There is also a popular bingo pattern known as “Coverall” or “Blackout Bingo”. As the name implies, players must cover all 25 of the spaces on the bingo card.

When playing online bingo, a sample card is shown somewhere on the screen to show what bingo pattern applies to the current game. Be sure to look at the squares in the bingo pattern that you’ll need to mark off in order to win the bingo game.

Below is a descriptive list of some favorite bingo patterns commonly played in live and online bingo halls.

Key:
* = Part of the bingo pattern
- = Blank space, not involved in a bingo pattern

Alphabet Bingo Patterns
Alphabet bingo patterns are simple enough to understand. The bingo pattern, when covered, depicts a specific letter of the alphabet. Below are a few examples of alphabetical bingo patterns.

Lines & Corners Bingo Pattern
The most basic bingo patterns involve lines and corners. Any-Line bingo patterns are the earliest forms of bingo patterns, requiring only that the player mark off an entire straight line of 5 numbers running left to right, top to bottom or diagonally (top left to bottom right, or bottom left to top right). These are depicted below.

Corners come in two varieties – single corner squares, where just the square in the very corner must be marked, and 2×2 corner squares, called “stamps”, because they look kind of like a stamp in the corner of an envelope. These bingo patterns require a 2×2 (four-squares) block to be filled. There are single and multiple corner bingo patterns. Some allow for any corner(s) to be filled, while others ask for specific corners. These are also depicted below.

Pictorial Bingo Patterns
These bingo patterns are extremely popular because there are so many possible pictures, and a lot of online bingo halls will run themed bingo games for an hour or so. For example, there could be a “morning” theme with a bed, cup of coffee and sun. check out some of these interesting bingo patterns below to get an idea of what pictorial bingo patterns have to offer.
