Bingo Terminology
Bingo is a fun and exciting game to play. However, there are some terms which are used when you are playing the game which many beginners won’t be familiar with yet. You will want to learn the various bingo terms right away so that you can jump right in and know what it is that the other players are talking about. Here is a detailed list of the more popular bingo terms:
Admission Packet: This is the minimum number of cads that a player must purchase in order to be eligible to play the game. You will generally be required to purchase a packet and each packet may contain three t six cards in it.
After Game: This is the game which is played after the normal game is done.
Blackout: A blackout is a game in which a player must cover the entire card in order to win the game. This game is also often referred to as a coverall.
Caller: This is the person who calls the numbers out for you to mark on your card.
Cash-in-Prize: This is a game which will be played for a cash prize. This winnings are generally takes from the buy ins.
Dauber: This is an ink filled bottle with a felt tip that you will use to mark the numbers on your card as they are called out.
Face: This is what the individual bongo card is called.
Free Space: This is the center space on the card that is a free space everyone will be able to mark.
GTI: This is an electronic dauber which is used by a player who is playing multiple packs of bingo cards.
Hard Way Bingo: This means that a person won bingo in a straight line without using the free space in order to do it.
Jackpot: This is the large prize which is up for grabs to the winner of a specific pattern; it could be a blackout, or another type of pattern which is achieved with a specific number of balls.
Money ball: This is a number that gets drawn before a game begins. If a player wins bingo on this number then they win double.
Pattern: This is the shape that is used to cover the bingo card as numbers are called out. A game can be played using a variety of patterns such as a straight line, four corners, or a blackout.
Progressive Jackpot: This is a jackpot that will continue to grow until someone finally wins it. This particular jackpot will generally come with its own separate buy in requirement.
Rainbow Pack: This is a pack that allows for the bingo players to play for a chance of winning a few different prizes.
Speed Bingo: This is played much the same way as regular bingo is, except the numbers are called out very quickly. You will have to pay close attention and be fast during this game.
Wrap Up: This is what the last game of the night is called.
